Terms of Service
The agreement between you and Active Software for using PDFSpeeder.
Effective October 3, 2026
Draft for review. This page is not in effect yet: the wording still needs to be checked, and any details in square brackets filled in, before paid plans launch.
1. Who you are agreeing with
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a contract between you and Active Software (“we”, “us”, “our”), [registered business address], the business that operates PDFSpeeder at pdfspeeder.com. By using the website or any of its tools, you accept these Terms. If you use PDFSpeeder for an organisation, you accept them on its behalf. If you do not agree, please do not use PDFSpeeder.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your files and personal data, and our Refund Policy covers refunds for paid plans. Both form part of these Terms.
2. The service
PDFSpeeder provides online tools for working with PDFs and other files — converting, compressing, merging, splitting and editing — together with calculators, text and developer utilities, and AI-assisted features. Many tools run entirely in your browser, so your file never leaves your device. Others process your file on our servers and delete it automatically within 2 hours, as described in the Privacy Policy.
We work to keep PDFSpeeder fast and available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service: tools can be briefly unavailable during maintenance, updates or outages, and we may add, change or retire tools over time. Paid plans include the features described on our Pricing page at the time you buy.
3. Free use and daily limits
You can use PDFSpeeder for free within a daily allowance: 2 tasks a day without an account, or 3 a day with a free account. Each run of a tool counts as one task, and the allowance resets every day at 00:00 UTC (05:30 IST). We may change these limits. You must not try to get around them, for example by using several accounts, automated scripts or by disguising your device or network.
4. Accounts
An account is optional. You can create one with an email address, or with a Google or Microsoft account. Please give accurate details, keep your sign-in secure, and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account — you are responsible for activity under it. You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required in your country, to use PDFSpeeder. You can delete your account at any time from your account page.
5. Paid plans, billing and Paddle
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle processes your payment, issues your invoice, collects any sales tax, VAT or GST, and handles refunds and payment questions. When you buy a plan, Paddle’s Buyer Terms also apply to the purchase.
- Renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly) until you cancel.
- Cancelling. You can cancel at any time. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for, and you will not be charged again.
- Price changes. If we change the price of a plan, we will tell you before it applies; the new price takes effect from your next renewal.
- Refunds. You can ask for a full refund within 14 days of a payment — see the Refund Policy.
6. Your files and content
You keep all rights to the files and text you use with PDFSpeeder, and to the results you create. You give us only the permission needed to process them to deliver the result you asked for. We do not claim ownership of your content, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to train AI models. You confirm that you have the right to process every file you use with the service.
We do not keep copies of your results: download what you need, and keep your own backups of important documents.
7. AI features
Our AI tools (such as chat with a PDF, summaries, question generation and translation) send the relevant text from your document to a third-party AI provider, currently OpenAI, to produce a response. AI output can be incomplete or wrong, so check anything important before you rely on it, and do not use the AI tools for content you are not allowed to share with such a provider.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to use PDFSpeeder to:
- break any law, or infringe anyone’s copyright, trademarks or other rights;
- commit fraud, including forging, falsifying or altering documents to deceive anyone;
- process content that is illegal, or that exploits or harms children;
- upload malware, or try to break, overload, probe or reverse-engineer the service or its security;
- access the service with bots, scrapers or other automated means, or get around our usage limits;
- resell, rent or rebrand the service without our written permission.
9. Our intellectual property
PDFSpeeder — its name, logo, design, software and written content — belongs to Active Software or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service; they do not transfer any ownership to you.
10. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or end your access to PDFSpeeder, without notice where necessary, if you break these Terms, if your use could harm us, other users or anyone else, if we see signs of fraud or abuse, or if the law requires us to. Where we can, we will tell you why. If we end a paid plan without any breach on your part, we will refund the unused part of the period you paid for. You can stop using PDFSpeeder at any time.
11. Disclaimers
PDFSpeeder is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no promise that the service will be error-free or that every result will be perfect: please check converted files, calculator results and AI output before relying on them. Calculators give estimates for information only and are not financial, tax or legal advice — see our Disclaimer.
12. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Active Software is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profits or business, arising from your use of PDFSpeeder. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50 if you have not paid us anything. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the new version on this page with a new effective date, and tell subscribers by email about changes that affect paid plans. If you keep using PDFSpeeder after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts of [city], India have jurisdiction over any dispute, without affecting any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.
