NPS Calculator — Plan Your National Pension System Retirement Corpus

The National Pension System (NPS) is a market-linked, low-cost retirement scheme regulated by PFRDA. Part of your money can be invested in equity, so over the long term it can earn more than fixed-rate schemes such as PPF or EPF, though returns are not guaranteed, and contributions can qualify for tax deductions. Our NPS Calculator projects your corpus at age 60 and the monthly pension from the part you use to buy an annuity.

Enter your monthly contribution, current age, expected return, the annuity rate and the share of the corpus that buys an annuity. See the total you invest, your corpus at 60 and your estimated monthly pension, with a year-by-year table. No signup, no cost.

How to Calculate NPS Returns

1. Monthly Contribution

Enter how much you will contribute every month.

2. Current Age

Enter your age now. The calculator projects your contributions up to age 60 — the earlier you start, the larger the corpus.

3. Expected Returns

Enter the annual return you expect from your asset mix — for example 10%. These are assumptions, not guaranteed returns.

4. View Pension

See your total investment, corpus at 60 and estimated monthly pension: the annuity share of the corpus (60% unless you change it) × the annuity rate ÷ 12.

NPS Calculator — FAQs

Tier I is the main pension account with tax benefits and lock-in until retirement. Tier II is a voluntary, no-lock-in savings account but offers no tax benefits. Most investors prioritise Tier I for retirement planning.

The calculator splits your corpus at 60: the share you choose (40% to 100%, 60% unless you change it) buys an annuity, and the monthly pension is that amount × the annuity rate ÷ 12. The rest is the lump sum you could withdraw. PFRDA sets the withdrawal and annuity rules and they can change, so check the current ones.

Your own contributions can be deducted under Section 80CCD(1), within the overall 80C limit, and under 80CCD(1B), both in the old tax regime. Your employer’s contributions can be deducted under 80CCD(2). The limits change from Budget to Budget, so check the current ones. This calculator doesn’t estimate tax savings.
