SIP Calculator

Free SIP calculator — estimate maturity, total invested, and wealth gained on your Systematic Investment Plan. Year-wise growth projection included.

SIP Calculator — Project Your Mutual Fund SIP Returns

Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs) are how millions of Indians build wealth through mutual funds — small, disciplined monthly investments that compound over years. Our SIP Calculator shows you exactly how much your monthly investment will grow to, based on the expected rate of return and investment period.

Enter your monthly SIP amount, expected annual return, and tenure in years. See the total investment, estimated returns, and final corpus — with a year-by-year growth table and a chart of what you invested against what you gained. No signup, no cost.

How to Use the SIP Calculator

1. Enter Monthly SIP Amount

Enter how much you plan to invest every month — ₹500, ₹5,000, ₹25,000, or any amount.

2. Expected Annual Return

Enter the annual return you expect — for example 12% for an equity fund or 7% for a debt fund. These are assumptions, not guaranteed returns.

3. Investment Tenure

Choose how many years you will continue the SIP. Longer tenures dramatically increase wealth through compounding.

4. View Projection

See total invested, estimated gains, and maturity value, with a year-by-year table of how your corpus grows.

SIP Calculator Features

Year-by-Year Projection

See exactly how your corpus grows each year — the visible compounding effect motivates long-term discipline.

Monthly Compounding

Each instalment grows at your expected return compounded monthly (annual rate ÷ 12), counted from the start of the month you invest it.

Fixed Monthly Amount

This calculator keeps the SIP amount the same every month. To raise it each year in line with your salary, use the Step-Up SIP Calculator.

Investment vs Returns Split

Pie chart shows what portion of your final corpus comes from your investment versus the gains earned.

Multiple Currencies

Show amounts with the rupee, US dollar, euro, pound or yen symbol, or the Australian, Canadian or Singapore dollar. Only the symbol changes; nothing is converted.

How SIP Returns Are Calculated

The maturity amount is the future value of an instalment paid at the start of every month: FV = P × [(1 + i)n − 1] ÷ i × (1 + i), where P is the monthly SIP, i is the monthly rate (expected annual return ÷ 12 ÷ 100) and n is the number of months. Total invested is P × n, and wealth gained is the maturity amount minus the total invested. Each row of the year-by-year table applies the same formula up to the end of that year.

Worked example: ₹5,000 a month at an expected 12% a year for 10 years (the calculator’s starting values), shown in rupees.

  • i = 12 ÷ 12 ÷ 100 = 0.01 a month, and n = 120 months.
  • Maturity amount = ₹11,61,695.
  • Total invested = ₹6,00,000, so the wealth gained is ₹5,61,695.
  • After the first year, the ₹60,000 invested is worth ₹64,047.

Amounts are rounded to the nearest rupee on screen; the calculation itself is not rounded, so multiplying the rounded figures can differ by a few rupees.

SIP Calculator — FAQs

For equity mutual funds, 12% is a reasonable long-term assumption based on historical Nifty/Sensex returns. For hybrid funds use 9-10%, and for debt funds 6-7%. Always remember these are projections, not guarantees — actual returns vary year to year.

SIP uses the future value of annuity formula: FV = P × [{(1 + i)^n - 1} / i] × (1 + i), where P is monthly SIP, i is monthly rate (annual ÷ 12), and n is number of months. The calculator does this automatically.

SIP averages out market volatility through rupee-cost averaging and instils investing discipline. Lumpsum can give better returns if invested at a market low but requires good market timing. For most retail investors, SIP is the safer, more consistent path.
