EPF Calculator — Project Your Employee Provident Fund Corpus

Employee Provident Fund (EPF) is the retirement backbone for most salaried Indians. You and your employer each contribute a share of your basic salary plus DA every month, and EPFO credits interest once a year at the rate it declares. Our EPF Calculator projects your corpus at retirement from your salary, the contribution rates, your age and the interest rate you expect.

Enter your basic salary plus DA, both contribution rates, your current and retirement age, and the interest rate. See your projected EPF corpus, total contributions, and interest earned, with a year-by-year table. No signup, no cost.

How to Calculate EPF

1. Basic Salary

Enter your monthly basic salary plus DA. EPF contribution is calculated on this, not on CTC.

2. Contribution Rate

The calculator starts at the usual split: 12% from you and 3.67% from your employer into EPF, both on your full basic salary plus DA. The rest of the employer’s 12% goes to the pension scheme (EPS), which isn’t included; the pension share stops at ₹2,083 a month (8.33% of the ₹25,000 wage ceiling), so on a higher salary the rest goes into EPF. Change either rate if yours differs.

3. Age and Interest Rate

Set your current age, the age you plan to retire and the interest rate you expect. The calculator keeps your salary the same every year.

4. View Corpus

See total EPF corpus at retirement, contributions made, and interest earned over the years.

EPF Calculator Features

Employee + Employer Split

See your own contributions, your employer’s EPF contributions and the interest earned as separate totals.

How Interest Is Added

Interest is worked out on the monthly running balance and credited once a year, as EPFO does: the opening balance earns interest for all 12 months, and each month’s contribution from the following month to the end of the year.

Year-Wise Projection

A row for every year to retirement, showing your contribution, your employer’s contribution, the interest earned and the closing balance.

VPF Top-up

Set your own contribution above 12% (up to 100%) to see what Voluntary Provident Fund contributions add to your corpus.

Visual Breakdown

A chart shows how much of your corpus comes from you, from your employer and from interest.

EPF Calculator — FAQs

After 5 or more years of continuous service, EPF withdrawals are generally tax-free. Withdraw earlier and the amount can become taxable in the year you withdraw it, with TDS deducted above a threshold. Check the current rules before you withdraw.

VPF (Voluntary Provident Fund) lets you contribute beyond the mandatory 12%, up to 100% of basic salary plus DA, and it earns the same EPF interest rate. Interest on employee contributions above a yearly limit is taxable, so check the current limit if you contribute a lot.

No — transfer the EPF balance to your new employer's account using Form 13 or the UAN portal. This keeps your service continuity intact (important for the 5-year tax-free rule) and continues compounding the corpus uninterrupted.
