Brokerage Calculator

Free brokerage calculator for Indian stocks — exact STT, exchange, SEBI, stamp duty, GST and DP charges (FY 2024-25 rates) for equity delivery, intraday, futures and options, with break-even and a broker comparison.

Brokerage Calculator — Calculate Your Net Profit After Trading Charges

Buying and selling stocks looks like simple arithmetic until you factor in brokerage, STT, exchange fees, GST, SEBI charges, stamp duty and DP charges. On a small delivery trade those can be more than ₹200 — enough to turn an apparent profit into a loss. This calculator computes the exact net P&L after every charge, for equity delivery, intraday, futures and options, at the statutory rates it is built on (FY 2024-25, as noted under the results).

Enter the buy and sell prices, quantity and segment, pick a brokerage plan (a discount plan with a ₹20 cap, zero, flat or a full-service percentage), and get the total charges itemised, your net profit or loss, the break-even price, and a side-by-side comparison of what the same trade costs under different plans. No signup, no cost.

Current rates, and every charge

  • STT is charged where it is actually due. On delivery it is 0.1% on both the buy and the sell — a calculator that bills only the sell side understates your cost by half the STT. On a ₹1,00,000 buy that alone is ₹100.
  • Post-Oct-2024 rates. Options STT is 0.1% of the sell premium and futures STT is 0.02% (both raised on 1 October 2024), and NSE transaction charges use 0.00297% / 0.00173% / 0.03503%.
  • DP charges are included. Selling delivery shares triggers a depository charge (about ₹13.5 + GST per scrip) that many calculators forget entirely.
  • Break-even, solved exactly. Because charges depend on the sell price, the break-even is found numerically — the price where net P&L is truly zero, not a rough estimate.
  • Statutory charges are the same at every broker. STT, exchange, SEBI, stamp and GST are set by law and the exchanges; only brokerage differs. So the tool lets you vary the brokerage and keeps everything else exact.

Brokerage Calculator — FAQs

Some discount brokers charge no brokerage on equity delivery and others a small fee per order, so check your broker’s tariff. You still pay STT (0.1% on both buy and sell), exchange charges, SEBI fees, and 18% GST on brokerage and exchange charges, plus stamp duty on the buy — at the FY 2024-25 rates this calculator applies.

Discount brokers typically charge ₹20 per executed order or 0.03% (whichever is lower). STT for intraday is 0.025% on the sell side only (the FY 2024-25 rate this calculator applies). Plus exchange fees, GST, SEBI fees, and stamp duty on the buy.

Most discount brokers charge a flat ₹20 per executed options order. STT on options is 0.1% of the sell-side premium (raised from 0.0625% on 1 October 2024). Exchange transaction charges are much higher for options than for cash equity — on NSE it is 0.03503% of the premium turnover — which is why fees eat a larger share of small option trades.

When you sell shares held in your demat account, the depository (CDSL or NSDL) and your broker levy a Depository Participant charge — commonly around ₹13.5 plus GST — per scrip, per day, regardless of quantity. It applies only to delivery sells, not to intraday or F&O. Because it is a flat fee, it hurts small trades most: on a ₹1,000 delivery position it can be a bigger cost than the STT. This calculator adds it to delivery sells (you can change the amount to match your broker) and includes its GST — something many calculators skip entirely.

Because you pay charges on the way in and the way out, the stock has to rise a little just for you to get back to zero. On a ₹1,000 delivery buy of 100 shares, break-even is around ₹1,002.38 — a ₹2.38 (0.24%) move — before you have made a single rupee. For intraday and options the gap is proportionally larger because STT and exchange fees scale with turnover. The tool solves this exactly rather than estimating, since the charges themselves change with the sell price.
